Podcast 005 – Peyton Manning, Jimmy Carter or Your Daddy
This episode will blow your face off: Fashion. Local theater. Sports. Flash fiction. Muppets. We got it all, including five guests this week. Plus, find out the type of man Kat considers the “marryin’ kind.”
First segment: Kat and guest Andrea Kerbuski recap their recent fashion challenge, while Daniel shares his misadventures during a trip to Chicago over the weekend, which included Muppets, umbrella swords and Cubs fans.
Second segment: Chad Badgero (director) and Leah Gerstel (actor) talk about Peppermint Creek‘s production of “Ordinary Days,” and you’ll hear why Leah came all the way from New York to be a part of this production. The show runs Jan. 27 – 30 and Feb. 3 – 5 at the Creole Gallery (1218 Turner St. in Lansing).
Third segment: Lansing NOISE sports columnist Andi Osters chats with the gang about all things sports, including the upcoming Super Bowl, Michigan State University basketball and the National Hockey League All-Star game. And lastly, you’ll learn all about Kat’s options when it comes to the ideal husband.
Fourth segment: Aaron Matthews is one of the folks behind Lansing’s Fiction 440 writing event. What is it? You have to write a whole story in 440 words (or less) and you must use these three words somewhere in your story: hospital, frenetic, and kumquat.
Think you have what it takes? Give it a try. Stories will be read aloud at the next event, Tuesday Jan. 25, 5PM at Moriarty’s.
Events mentioned in this week’s podcast:
Lansing Happy Hour Club One Year Anniversary – Monday, Jan. 24, 5PM. Harrison Roadhouse.
Michigan State University Comics Forum – Jan. 21 – 22, Michigan State University.
Ignite Lansing 4 - Friday, Feb. 11, Lansing Capital Region International Airport.
Lansing Derby Vixens home bout vs. the Floral City Roller Girls – Saturday, Feb. 12, 6 PM, Lansing Center.
Notes from the Geek:
This was a jam-packed show, but the good thing about jam-packed shows is that we don’t have to scramble to fill time. Although, with this just being a podcast, we could only do a twenty minute show if we really had to. And who could say otherwise? No one, that’s who.
Back to two guests next week, including someone to chat about the upcoming Lansing Derby Vixens bout at the Lansing Center. We will try to have a new skit too!
Fight the power,
Daniel (the Geek)
