First segment:

Daniel went to Potter Park Zoo’s Jungle Love event and learned a few interesting facts about animal dating and ‘making babies’ and the discussion quickly goes down hill from there. Thanks to a Super Bowl ad involving a mini Cooper, Kat became the butt of a joke. Kat was not amused.

Second segment: Skit – Hangin’ with Hayner: John Hayner is important, and has lots to say about the current state of the world.

Third segment: Annie Rzepecki, director of the Vagina Monologues at the Wharton Center, chats with Kat and Daniel about this on-going production. You can see it for yourself at the Wharton’s Pasant Theatre, Feb. 18-19 (price: $16.00).

Fourth segment:

Carla McWherter stops by to chat about Lansing Give Camp: a bunch of geeks donate their web/design/social media/whack-a-mole skills to a charity in need of a new website. Better still, they are locked into Impression 5 Science Center all weekend while they perform their digital good deeds.

What’s not to like? Give Camp is not until March, so you can still sign up. Daniel did, hoping he can some how put his GeoCities skills to use.

Fifth segment:

Anne Erickson power slides into the studio to share the latest news about Lansing’s music scene. Anne writes about music for the Lansing NOISE, and she’s on Twitter as @localmusicbeat. She chats with Kat and Daniel about a few local bands, including Year 200x, Narc Out the Reds, Jason Alarm and Steppin’ In It.

Sixth segment:

John Hayner sticks around and has more than one word to share, this time any way. The gang is excited about Ignite Lansing 4.0 and the roller derby bout this weekend (Friday and Saturday, respectively).

Events mentioned in this week’s podcast:

Ignite Lansing 4 - Friday, Feb. 11, Lansing Capital Region International Airport.

Lansing Derby Vixens home bout vs. the Floral City Roller Girls – Saturday, Feb. 12, 6 PM, Lansing Center.

Rock and Worship Road Show – Saturday, Feb. 12, 6 PM, Breslin Arena.

Annual Darwin Discovery Day – Sunday, Feb. 13, 1 – 5 PM, Michigan State University Museum.

Frost Fest 2011 – Saturday, Feb. 19, 6 PM, downtown Lansing.

Notes from the Geek:

A jammed packed show! Thanks to John Hayner for coming down and being in a silly skit. Big news! Kat will not be on next week show (she’s on assignment at a Ranch Dressing uh…Show. Yeah). She’ll return the week after.

So, I’ll be having a video game round table chat on next week’s show. Make sure to check it out (I may have a super-special guest too, I’m working that out). Our next video-cast will be in a couple weeks, back at Life in Lansing.

Do it good,

Daniel (the Geek)
