Kitty Corner – Lansing Thrift Crawl Wrap-Up
by Kat
Well, I have to say, the Lansing Thrift Crawl was a huge success. I mean, at the very least, for my closet! I managed to pick up 23 items of clothing for the low, low price of just $126.40. Some are more useful (hello, basic J. Jill cami) than others (talking to you, 60′s bridesmaid’s dress) but I love them all! If you want to see all the items I purchased along with brands and prices, head over to our Facebook page for the gallery. While you’re there, consider ‘liking’ Ginger and the Geek as well!
First, my shopping outfit that allowed me to quickly and easily try things on and keep going ALL day:
Supporting Cast:
Shirt: Express
Skirt: Land’s End Canvas
Belt: J Crew Outlet
Shoes: Payless
Sunnies: Anthro
Bag: Coach
Bracelet: J Crew
Watch: Michael Kors
Over the course of the day we hit 10 – count ‘em, 10 – Lansing-area thrift spots, got interviewed by the LSJ, ate at 3 different restaurants, got tons of amazing deals and had 17 scoops of fun. The conclusion? We will totally be doing this again. From what we heard, even if people didn’t meet up with us on the tour, they were out thrifting in force.
My favorite finds? A Lilly Pulitzer skirt that was likely almost $100 brand new, in perfect condition, for only $3:
And that 1960′s dress that was 1/2 off – only $5! – and fit me perfectly. Watch for it to be a Halloween costume at the very least:
Daniel met up with us at Scavenger Hunt and followed along to ReThreads to get some idea of the craziness that ensued.
Ann, in a dress I had previously tried on:
How cute is that? Abby goes full-on flower child:
She wouldn’t buy it, no matter how hard I pleaded. Who cares if you don’t have anywhere to wear it?!?
A gown I found at ReThreads:
My turn not to have anywhere to wear something! And a 60′s sweater suit I just couldn’t resist:
I will be wearing this one to work very, very soon!
Thanks so much to everyone who came out shopping with us. It was so much fun to meet some of the blog readers and I hope you’ll join us again and bring a friend or two along. And a very big thanks to my friend Iggi, who not only drove all the way in from Detroit, but was the only other person to make it to all 10 stops – you get a gold star, Ig!
What were your favorite finds and shops? I’ll use your feedback so we can make the next crawl even better!

I had a blast and am in the process of putting together a Thrift Crawl Detroit style! Details to come!!!
LOVE that ’60s skirt-suit. A little jealous, to be honest! You should make this thrifting a regular occurrence as I go all the time and would love company
Oooh – let me know and I will help publicize!
Thanks! Thinking we should try doing this quarterly for now, if it gets SUPER popular, perhaps every other month?
wow! looks like you found some awesome selections – and sounds like, for a great price, to boot! I feel more than a little jealous, though if I pulled 23 new items into my warddrobe, I think I’d have to shoot some out the other end to make room!
Thanks! I do need to have a clothing swap to clean out some of my stuff – hoping to do that this summer.
