Kitty Corner – Passion for Fashion: Pushing Your Boundaries

Since starting this little blog just under a year ago, some of my personal boundaries have been pushed. I’ve gotten more used to (and less uncomfortable with) being photographed, I’ve listened to some harsh criticism and I’ve adjusted my idea of ‘style’ somewhat.
Someone who never fails to push my boundaries is one of my awesome photographers, Khalid. He’s never satisfied to just take pretty pictures (which he always does.) He wants to BLOW YOUR MINDS. And sometimes that involves things I’m not quite comfortable with. Like wearing mustard colored tights.
See, colored tights were on my ‘not me’ list.
Mustard tights were on the ‘seriously not me’ list. But Khalid pushed my boundaries. And we compromised…
Still a much brighter color than I’d ever worn (I stick to black, gray, navy and brown) and not quite mustard. But, as they say, change is good for the soul – I’ve worn these tights 4 or 5 times since buying them!
Khalid also wanted to do something WILD with my hair. Something WILD…for the gal who’s not even so sure about putting her hair UP.
You guessed it, another compromise. This is the lovely Kate:
(Kate, please don’t hate me for putting your pic in my blog.) She put my hair up for me, and I loved it!
Something I wouldn’t have bought a year ago?
This dress. This dress with the waist in the wrong place for me.
This blousy dress with a wild pattern. Yeah. consider my mind BLOWN, Khalid – on all 3 counts!

Boots. I love them. But it’s difficult to find ones that have little or no heel that look stylish. I can’t wear high heels…only exception is character shoes, but I think they’re sturdier than most types I’ve seen. Tried on a bunch of boots at a sale this weekend…FINALLY found one pair that will fit the bill. But apparently, heels are in this year.
