Geek Speak – Looking for a New Comic to Read? Check out Doug TenNapel’s Nnewts

Nnewts by Doug TenNapel. (nnewts.com)
I enjoy comic strips–they are short, fun, and are easy for the casual online visitor to sample (which is why I decided to try the ‘gag a day’ format).
But, I really enjoy long form comics. Stories which take weeks, months, or years to finish. Being online makes such a comic easy to read–and it can become quite addicting to keep jumping to the next page.
One such comic is Doug TenNapel’s Nnewts (that is not a typo). Each update is a new page, and it is free to read. I’ve been a fan of TenNapel’s work ever since he created Earthworm Jim, and now I read his graphic novels are soon as I can (check out Creature Tech, Iron West, and Ghostopolis).
Nnewts stars, surprise, anthropomorphic newts in a fantasy setting. This is classic TenNapel, and one of the reasons I love his work: he’s not afraid to do something off the wall, unique, or strange. Each of his stories are so different, and very influential (at least to me).
And when you have finished the first few pages of Nnewts, check out TenNapel’s other comic, Ratfist–a superhero satire like only he can do.
