Kitty Corner – 4 Weeks, 5 Dresses

by Kat

So last year I participated in (and learned a lot from) the 30 for 30 challenge, where for 30 days, you pluck your outfits from 30 items of clothing. It’s a re-mixing, shopping-diet challenge not for the faint of heart. This year, I wanted to do something a little more flexible, a little more practical, a little more…me.

That’s Me.

Enter 4 Weeks, 5 Dresses.

The concept is simple – for the next 4 weeks, I will wear one of 5 different dresses each day to work. I will style the dress differently each time, using any other items from my closet I’d like.

The goal? To show you (and really, ME) that an interesting, fashionable, appropriate work wardrobe can be found using fewer pieces than we’re (I’m) used to working with. See, it used to be that when people asked me for fashion advice, pre-blog, I’d say ‘buy simple, classic clothes and fun, trendy accessories.’ And really? I’ve gotten away from that in some respects.

So here’s me trying to get back to it. Each of the dresses I’ll feature has a classic shape and solid color – and best of all, was purchased for right around $50. I’ll even let you know when someone at work (who doesn’t read the blog) notices my dress repetition…I’m betting it might take a few weeks!

I’ve partnered with some awesome photogs to document the process – with each one of them snapping the entire series of 4 outfits – a big thanks to Kim Brock Photography and Design, Ariniko Artistry, Luke Anthony Photography, EatPomegranate Photography and Andrea Kerbuski of Blonde Bedhead – thank you ALL for enduring all the wardrobe changes involved to capture this project – you rock.

So, here we go! Starting Monday, 20 outfits, in a row. Hold on to your hats, and I hope you enjoy the ride!

Love this outfit and look, Kat! I think this should be your website photo (and then get Daniel to update his as well, and you’ll be rocking the 12′s!). Lovely!
